The first step is always the hardest
This was the first of what would be 12 stair steps; this is not your typical 12 step program! The math for this was challenging to say the least.
Our first step here was to figure out the best possible rise and run, then make a stair template
We made a custom template out of thin ply to trace with the plasma
We cut each plate out with the plasma
We scored, bent, and welded each step
Things are starting to take shape…and gain weight!
This part was interesting. We had to build a custom stand to rotate the stairs but it worked like a charm. We then did the following:
Layout of rotational position on the center pipe
Squaring nose and heel of each step
Checking, checking, and more checking
Tack it
Check again…..and one more time
Weld it already!
Perfect!

Franken-Blower (frankie)
We call this monstrosity the franken-blower…half lawn tractor snow blower, half quad mounted meat grinder, with 15 horsepower of snow chucking awesomeness. We can now throw snow up to 30 feet away. So much more fun than a blade!
